Button Lover’s Club: Words With Buttons Dream Layered Collage
Hello Button friends! I have something a little different to share with you today. As you know, this month we are featuring the Twilight fabric collection for 1 Canoe 2. Did you know that 1 Canoe 2 also has a papercrafting line featuring Twilight too? It is such a gorgeous collection that includes beautiful papers and really fun die cut embellishments, stickers, and washi tapes. We thought it would be fun to share some papercrafting ideas for you this month that combine the Dream button box with the paper collection.
This layered 3D collage is so easy to make! It fits in an 8″ x 8″ shadowbox frame and can be a real statement piece in your decor. I have a full step-by-step tutorial on my blog sharing how I made it.

I also created two greeting cards with the paper collection. I used this month’s pillow designs as inspiration for my cards. Imagine how fun it would be to get one of the mini-pillows as a gift along with a matching card! It is so easy to adapt the patterns to cards too!
On the first card, I followed Rachel’s design for the Dream Button Appliqué pillow. I adjusted the block pattern slightly so that my card could be 6″ x 6″ (a standard card size). I substituted a strip of washi tape for one of the horizontal strips. I used one of the moth buttons from the button box in place of the 3D Fabric Appliqué moth.
The second card is inspired by the Scrap Star pillow Rachel shared yesterday. Follow the instructions on page 14 of The Splendid Sampler to make the “Scrap Star” Block by Corey Yoder. To adapt the pattern to a card, eliminate the seam allowance from each paper piece. Arrange the pieces on a card front and secure in place with a tape runner. Add a few lines of machine stitching to enhance the quilt look.
