Peppermint Folk Santa Pincushion Pattern

Pattern only.  Santa stands about 16" tall when made with the recommended woven, felted wool.  See the NOTE below if you plan to use felt instead.

Buttons and pins are sold separately.

The houndstooth felted wool shown is hand-dyed by Weeks Dye Works--color is Seafoam HT.  WDW has kindly provided this list of retail shops that sell cuts of their wool:

NOTE about the fabric:

If you make this Santa from wool-felt (instead of woven wool that has been felted), you'll find that he stands just 14.5" tall--felt doesn't stretch as much when you add the stuffing.  The buttons and pins are still perfectly proportioned, but the rest of the pattern pieces are a bit too big.  The magic number to fix this is 90%.  Cut the Body pieces FULL SIZE but reduce the remaining pieces to 90%.  You can do this with a photo copier or email us to ask for a 90% pattern page. (Only available if you've purchased the full pattern.)

Current stock of this pattern includes all the information for both felted wool (you can see the woven threads) and wool felt (not woven, the fibers are pressed into sheets.)

We auditioned lots of aqua wool-felt to capture the the same peppermint-y charm and decided on Mint N Chip from The Felt Pod (on Etsy).

To make our version order this wool-felt:  Mint N Chip 18x18" sheet, Coral Pink  8x12" sheet, Ivory 8x12" sheet, and a scrap of Baby Pink!

NOTE about the wire: 

The pattern has been updated to add a description of the wire inside Santa's hat.  You will need one (12-18") piece of 20-gauge floral wire.  A similar weight will also work.
